FAQ

  • I have an uneven number of people in my group, how many sleds do I need?

~If a third rider cannot fit within the weight limit of 375 pounds, you would need an additional sled for that guest. Pricing per sled remains the same.

  • Is this activity good for kids?

~Yes! This is a great activity for families! We have had all ages out with us. We usually recommend kids ages 3 and up only because it can get cold for the little ones after a while.

  • How physically demanding is the winter sled tour?

~There will be some walking and standing during our kennel tour portion. We do walk down a trail for a little way over to where we get on the sleds, nothing crazy. For the ride portion, we have what we call tandem sleds. These have a spot for a guest to sit, a spot for our guide to stand, and then another spot where a guest will stand to help drive the sled. For whoever stands on back with our guide…while we go up the mountain, we may ask that you help skate or lightly walk with the sled on some of the notches. This can be a workout in those sections, nothing crazy, but it will get your heart pumping a little. The dogs do go slow up the mountain, which is what we want!! They will roll in the snow, and stop often. We want that, so it is always fun for them. Our dogs are not circus animals, so we do help them up the mountain. Our guides will do the heavy duty work, they may ask for your help to keep momentum in those few spots. The main thing, is that you hold on and have fun!!! Our guides will do all the hard work. Again, you can sit and switch off with whoever is sitting in the sled.

  • Can I do a split ride, where I split the sled time with my group in half and reserve just one sled?

~We cannot do a split ride. Our course goes up a mountain and then comes back down, there is nowhere to switch out riders in the middle. You would need to reserve the number of sleds needed for your group to all go for the ride. If some want to join only for our kennel tour, that is an option.

  • I need more sleds, can you add more on?

~We have a limited number of sleds. If you have a bigger party, please try to reserve a day with all sleds available or book multiple days. You can also look at our Sled School Adventure. This is another way groups can experience an even more in depth ride.

  • Can I ride while pregnant?

~We recommend pregnant guests wait until next season. We would love to have you after your sweet baby arrives! You can still join us for a kennel tour!

  • Do you have a waitlist?

~Yes, please look at our winter services booking tab on our scheduling calendar. You will see the waitlist there. You can schedule as many days as you would like.

  • Do I need to cancel the waitlist?

~No. We will call you if anything does open up. You have to tell us “yes”, before we can give you an active reservation. Otherwise, you do not need to cancel the waitlist, it will just pass by.

  • Do I get a refund if cancelled?

~We do not charge anything until the day of the tour, just in case weather changes what we can offer. We have a 48 hour cancelation policy. If you cancel before that, you will not be charged anything. If you don’t cancel before that, you will be charged the full price. If WE cancel your reservation due to weather or any other condition after the 48 hours, we of course will not charge you anything.

  • I have an injury that prevents me from skiing, can I still do this?

~Yes, depending on your comfort level. There is walking, but on the ride you can sit.

  • Do we drive the sled by ourselves?

~No, we have a guide on your sled with you. You are able to help the musher drive the sled. There is also a place to sit. If you are looking to drive your own sled, look at our Sled School Adventure. That is a great experience as well!

  • How long is the experience?

~ The whole experience will last for about 1.5-2 hours. The actual sled time is about 35 minutes. Our course is very adventurous. It comes up a mountain and then comes back down. It is VERY thrilling.

  • Can you go without much snow?

~No, we need at least 6-8 PACKED down inches. Usually that means we need at least a foot or two of good snow to pack down. our brakes need to be able to catch to stop the sled, especially on our mountainous trail, as we do have cliffs in some parts.

  • What if the weather is bad?

~We will cancel your tour if the weather is not safe to drive in or sled in. Of course, no charge if WE cancel.

  • I don’t see the date or any dates on your calendar, do you have openings?

~If you do not see the date you are looking for or it does not show any dates and says to call for availability, it means we are sold out for those dates. Sign up on our waitlist or join us for our Rescued, Inspirational Kennel Tour or our Snowshoe Adventure. If a ride does pop open, we will let you know right away!

  • Does the weight limit include your musher's?

~No, the weight limit only applies to your party. If a third rider can not fit on the sled within the weight limit, you will need an additional sled.
